Can’t Restore Dedupe Volume

If you get the following error message or one like it:

this is only informing you to install the Windows Dedupe role in order to restore the file.

One you install the Windows Dedupe role within the Windows instance that you are using to perform the restore you will be able to restore your files. Whether you do this from the core itself, or upon another Windows instance and use the Local Mount Utility, both options will allow you to restore your files.
