Veeam Backing up CIFS

Setup CIFS/NAS backups within Veeam

  1. Open up the Veeam Backup and Replication Console
  2. From the toolbar on top click on Backup Job (if that isn’t an option, make sure you are on the Home screen)
  3. If you do not have a File share added yet you will be prompted to add one
  4. Click on File share
  5. Choose what type of File Share you’d like to back up
  6. Depending on which type you’re options might differ, for this example we will use SMB share
  7. Type in the network path for the file
  8. Add (or choose) the credential that will be used to authenticate to the share
  9. Click Next
  10. Choose your Backup Proxy (if applicable), pick your cached repo, and your Backup flow control
  11. Click Apply
  12. Click Next
  13. Click Finish

Setting up a File share backup

*if you followed the above instructions the File share backup wizard is already open

  1. From the toolbar on top click on Backup Job (if that isn’t an option, make sure you are on the Home screen)
  2. Choose File share
  3. Give the job a name and a description
  4. Click Next
  5. Click Add
  6. Choose the Share and Click OK
  7. Click Next
  8. Choose your Repository
  9. Choose your Retention policy
  10. Choose any other applicable settings
  11. Click Next
  12. Chose a secondary repository if needed
  13. Click Next
  14. Set a schedule
  15. Click Apply
  16. Click Finish
